About ECODIM
ECODIM (Ecology and Diversity of Marine Microorganisms) is an international intensive course that brings together students and leading scientists for an immersive learning experience in marine biosciences.
Hosted by the University of Concepción and the San Ignacio del Huinay Foundation in Chilean Patagonia, ECODIM combines inspiring lectures, fieldwork, laboratory training, bioinformatics, and collaborative research projects in one of the world’s most remarkable marine environments.
Participants develop practical research skills, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary teamwork while exploring topics such as microbial diversity, marine ecology, genomics, biogeochemical cycles, and environmental microbiology. Throughout the course, students work closely with an international team of experts and conclude the program by presenting the results of their own research projects.
More than a course, ECODIM is a unique opportunity to learn, collaborate, and become part of an international network of future marine scientists.
